Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many times can I have my shoes resoled?

A: As long as the upper leather portion of your shoes is in good condition, your shoes can be resoled 2-3 times on average.

Q: How long does it take?

A: While we make every effort to get the shoes in and out of our repair facility as quickly as possible, please allow three to four weeks to receive your recrafted shoes. In rare cases, replacement components may be out of stock, in which case a NuShoe representative will contact you.

Q: How much does shipping cost?

A: NuShoe provides shipping both to and from our repair facility using our postage-paid mailing bag. Simply place your shoes in the mailing bag and include in your outgoing mail. There is a $12/mailing bag charge for shipping and handling, which is included on the order form.

Q: Can I ship my shoes from outside the US?/Can you return my shoes to an address outside the US?

A: NuShoe does not offer our Recrafting services internationally. Our services are only available in the continental US, Alasaka, Hawaii and all US territories (i.e. Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands). Our services are also available to US Military bases and American Embassies around the world.

Q: I need my work order rushed, can you accommodate me?

A: All repairs are done on a first come first serve basis. However, if you have special needs, please contact our customer service staff and we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate you.

Q: How can I insure my package? What if my post office will not insure the postage-paid mailing bag?

A: Unfortunately, not every post-office will insure our postage-paid mailing bag. In this case, please pay the shipping and insurance and send in your shoes. If paying by check, you can subtract the shipping from your check. If paying by credit card, please enclose your receipt with your package and NuShoe will subtract the charge when processing your credit card.

Q: Can I put two pairs of shoes in one mailing packet?

A: You can put two pair of shoes in one packet. However for internal tracking purposes please fill out one information card for each pair of shoes.

Q: What if my shoes or boots do not fit in the mailing bag?

A: The mailing bags are designed to accommodate most pairs of shoes or boots. However, occasionally there may be a pair the will not fit. In this case please package the shoes or boots in a separate box, cut the shipping label from the bag and adhere it to the top of the box. NuShoe will still cover the postage.

Q: Who do I make the check out to?

A: All checks should be made payable to NuShoe, Inc.

Q: Can I buy new shoes from you?

A: In an effort to maintain the highest level of quality repair and customer service, NuShoe concentrates exclusively on recrafting your old favorites rather than selling new shoes.

Q: Do you use original materials?

A: NuShoe utilizes original components whenever possible. However in the high-tech world of shoe manufacturing not every shoe can be resoled with an original sole. In such cases we will use pre-approved substitute soles or you will be contacted for authorization to use a substitute sole.

Q: Do you do orthopedic work?

A: We do offer orthopedic work. All orthopedic jobs are priced on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our customer service staff for a quote and more information.

Q: Why use a cedar shoe tree?

A: Throughout the day, everybody's feet perspire to some extent. This dampens the leather. Once you remove your shoes, they will dry with the creases across the top of the shoes. However, if cedar shoe trees are put in the shoes, the cedar will absorb the moisture allowing the shoe to dry in their original form. In addition, removing the moisture from the shoe will extend the life of the leather.

Q: Why is my local repairman unable to resole my Ecco shoes?

A: Eccos are manufactured with a dual density polyurethane outsole. NuShoe has developed a process for bonding a Vibram outsole to the polyurethane. This process cannot be done without specialized equipment and training. Additionally NuShoe is the exclusive repair center for Ecco and as such has access to original insoles, laces, hardware, and other original Ecco components.

Q: What is your guarantee?

A: At NuShoe we always strive to provide the highest possible quality repair. All of our repair work comes with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects as result of our repair work.
